Now that bonfires and Remembrance Sunday have passed into this year’s history, all the focus will probably be on Christmas preparations and festivities. And there are still 5 weeks to go for all that manic shopping.

The Charity Card Shop is now open in the Community Centre in Conduit Hill, Rye each Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. There is a wide range of charities offering cards, calendars, ribbons and so on.

The Christmas Fayre will be held at school on Friday 7th December from 3.30 to 5.30pm. Any donations to the raffle would be gratefully received.

On Wednesday 21st November a new initiative will be happening. A “walking bus” will come to school. The idea is that the children are escorted walking to school instead of arriving by car. That would certainly ease the congestion in the lane. It is a National scheme, but Playden has not taken part before. It takes place during Road Safety Week.

There will be a Christmas Bazaar in Playden W. I. Hall tomorrow afternoon from 2 to 4 pm. This will be organised by the Peasmarsh Guides. Come along and browse and buy from Stocking fillers, tree decorations, Shabby Chic products and Pampered Chef.

The Friends of Playden Church are taking bookings now for the Murder Mystery Evening scheduled for 24th November in the W. I. Hall . Doors open at 7.30 pm for an 8 pm start. Tickets are £10 to include a 2-course hot supper. They are available from Neil on 22 42 09 or Marion on 22 26 15.
