Playden

It’s warm, wet and misty, very odd for October.

But just right for you to come to the Friends of Playden Quiz Night with supper. This is being held in the Playden W. I. Hall on Saturday 27th October - tomorrow night at 7.30 pm. Teams of 4 are preferred and tickets are £7.50. Obviously the food has to be ordered, so please could you telephone me on 01797 22 26 15 to choose from fish, chicken, sausage or vegetarian option with your chips. Booking remains open until Saturday lunch time. If you do not have a complete team, come anyway and we can match up on the night. It’s good fun and the food is very good. Do come.

Advance notice that the next event to be organised by the Friends will be a Murder Mystery Evening with supper. All you amateur detectives will have the chance to solve the clues as the play unfolds. This will be on 24th November in the W. I. Hall.

The Shoeboxes for the Link Romania Appeal need to be in church by Sunday, or give Mrs. Sue Cavilla a call on 230 431 and arrange a collection.

The Mobile Library will be at Poppyfield on Monday from 11.30 to 11.50 am. This is a good opportunity to change not only books but CDs and DVDs as well. And probably meet a friend.

On Saturday afternoon there is the chance to explore Camber Castle, the birdwatching hide and Castle Water wetland for early winter wildlife. Meet at Brede Lock at 1pm, back about 4 pm, walking about 2 miles. Donations would be appreciated.

On Tuesday 30th October you could explore the saltmarsh looking for crabs and minibeasts hiding in the mud. Wellies advisable !!! Booking is essential on 01797 22 77 84. Meet at Lime Kiln Cottage at 1.30 pm, back about 3 pm. This one is called Mud, Glorious Mud. The charge is £2 per child.

On Wednesday 31st from 10am to 1 pm you could get creative and have a go at making a scary Hallowe’en monster. Drop in to Lime Kiln Cottage Information Centre any time during the morning. The charge is £1 per item.

The mid-week services resume this week on Tuesday at 9.30 am and 3.30 pm.

There will be extra services for the Commemoration of All Souls plus Morning Prayer at 9.30 at Playden and 3.30 pm at Iden on 2nd November.

The clocks change on Saturday night. Put them all back one hour and enjoy the extra hour’s sleep.

The 11am service will be Parish Communion led by the Vicar.
