And so the lovely autumn weather continues.

But isn’t there a sea shanty which mentions Equinoctial Gales? That means this week end, when the equinox falls.

There is still time to contact Mrs. Margaret Hewett about the trip to Hall Place, Bexley. The date has been changed to Monday 24th September. The cost is £20. The coach will leave Playden at 9.15; the Strand at 9.20; and the station at 9.30. It will return about 5 pm.

Thanks to Heather Coote for the following report on the W. I. meeting.

Our September meeting was the Home Economics Show, and thanks were given to Carol Charlton for organising this. There were floral arrangements, both miniature and full size, and it was lovely to see that we have so many talented members. Cups and spoons were presented to those with the most marks. Our President cut up her cake entry and we enjoyed this with our cup of tea.

A speaker had been arranged, but unfortunately it was discovered that he had died a couple of months previously and so we had a quiz instead.
