It seems to me that as soon as a hosepipe ban was put in place, it rained nearly every day.

Now that the ban has been lifted, the sun has shone nearly every day. Is there a paradox here?

The holiday season is upon us with not a lot happening in the village.

Rye Harbour Nature Reserve has a couple of activities this week. On Monday 13th there is Pond Dipping at Castle Water. This involves a walk - 2 miles - through the Nature Reserve to Castle Water to find out what wildlife lurks amongst the reeds. Booking essential on 01797 22 77 84. Meet at Breed Lock at 1.30. Charge £2 per child.

On Thursday 16th, you could drop in to the Information Centre to have a go at some wildlife-thumbed arts and crafts. Lime Kiln Cottage Information Centre 10 am to 1 PM. Charge £1 per item.

Mid-week services are 9.30 am for Morning Prayer and 3.30 pm for Evening Prayer on Tuesday.

The 11 am service for the 10th Sunday after Trinity will be Parish Communion led by the Vicar.
