Playden village voice

The temperature swings during the past week have been tremendous - blazing sun seemingly followed by hail storms. All very peculiar. But despite the potential damage to delicate flower petals, the Iden and Playden Garden Society Spring Flower and Produce Show made the village hall awash with the most delightful colours and perfumes. More in the Iden column, with the results.

St. Michael’s Church people are holding a Spring Sale tomorrow, Saturday 21st April, in the church from 11 am to 1 pm. There will be refreshments, home made cakes, preserves, plants, books, toys, crafts, gifts and a raffle. Not only is it a lovely venue, but you are sure to find some very nice things to buy.

The following Saturday morning - 28th - is the Friends of Playden Church AGM, also in church, at 10.30 am. Short reports will be given, the annual Financial statement presented, membership subs can be paid, and elections held for committee members. A new secretary is needed plus a couple more executive members of The Friends. There are some lovely people on the membership list who pay every year, but take what might be called a ‘’sleeping ‘ role. Would any of them consider joining the committee? Please? We don’t have regular meetings, just as necessary when an event needs planning. We are very grateful for ALL subscriptions, but now need you to be active as well.
