WALK: Takes place on Sunday starting at 11am at the Phoenix car park, Harvey's Brewery, Lewes. It will be a river walk to Barcombe Cross, with the option of lunch at the Royal Oak. TALK: Lancing College and its Local History is the subject of the talk by Dr Janet Pennington at the village hall on Wednesday. Meet at 2pm for a 2.30pm start. All welcome.

CIRCULAR WALK: (Six miles) passing Bo Peep Farm, Tilton Farm, New Barn with lunch on route at the Cricketer’s Pub, Berwick and an interesting diversion to Berwick Church and Charleston Farmhouse (exterior only) takes place on Wednesday April 6. Meet members of the Footpath Society at the lay-by in Alciston, past the pub (Rose Cottage) for a 10.30am start. JUMBLE SALE: In aid of Plumpton Churches takes place at the village hall on Saturday April 16. Please take jumble donations to the hall from 9am and do go along at 2pm; with clothes at 20p each there are sure to be lots of bargains. Along with jumble there will be a tombola, refreshments, good as new items, bric-a-brac, books, toys, clothes and linen.

WOODY COUNTRYSIDE WALK: (5½ miles) taking in Kingscote station on the Bluebell railway with an optional lunch in West Hoathly is on Saturday April 23 starting at 10am. JUMBLE SALES: There have been changes to some of the dates for the jumble sales this year; the dates are April 16 (churches), May 7 (Guides), May 21 (Monday Group), June 11 (junior football), June 25 (Honeybees Preschool), July 9 (Women’s Institute), August 20 (St Peter and St James Hospice Support Group), September 3 (pavilion), September 10 (tennis club) October 8 (village hall) and October 29 (Flower Club). There is a sale provisionally booked for September 24 which has yet to be confirmed. Jumble will be welcomed by all these organisations, just take it along to the hall on the morning of the sale from 9am.
