Poem of the weekSecond Chance

THE whining beat of heavy wings

Cuts across the evening calm

Time has moved on

The chilled, limp and drifting bird

A stricken swan

Sadder than a ruined dream

Wrecked along the path of life

Now glides lakeward on powerful wings

Treading water, skimming through spray

To settle down, wings folded in-

Oytcome of braving fate to win

The happy statistic sails away
