Polegate man sentenced for selling drugs to children

A Polegate man who sold drugs to children has been sentenced at Lewes Crown Court.

Sussex Police say 20-year-old Stefan Bradley, unemployed, of Eastbourne Road, Polegate, appeared in court on Thursday (March 9) after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis. He was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment suspended for two years and a rehabilitation order. He was also given a victim surcharge and the court ordered that his phone be destroyed, police say.

Police say they began an investigation after a concerned parent, who believed that their child was beginning to consume cannabis, confiscated their phone and passed it to officers. The subsequent investigation identified two separate people who had been independently offering the child drugs for sale. Bradley was offering cannabis.

Police say Bradley’s conviction comes only months after the other dealer identified from the phone, Leigh Morley, 30, (pictured) unemployed, of High Street, Polegate, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of both cocaine and cannabis and was jailed for three years.

Investigating officer PC Dan Cloake said: “Both of these dealers were offering drugs to school children by text message. Although working independently of each other, between them they had the lion’s share of the supply of illegal drugs in the Polegate and Willingdon.

“Both were actively targeting vulnerable children locally in order to make a financial gain. If anyone that believes that selling drugs to children is an easy way to make some extra cash, be aware, we will catch you and the court will convict you.”
