Police are looking for information to identify a man who has been trying to defraud shops in Lewes.

A man has been going into shops in the town, taking stock from a display, damaging it and then trying to ask for a refund.

The man visited Wickle on July 20 and Bunce & Co and InterSport on July 22 but on none of the occasions was he successful in getting a refund.

PC Claire Underwood said: “This man is described as being between 40 and 60, 5ft10 to 6ft2 with short grey hair and yellow stained teeth.

“We would like to alert independent shop keepers to this scam and ask any one who has information or who has been a victim to call on 101 quoting serial 938 of 20/7.”
