Police conducted house-to-house inquiries in the area and scene of crime officers cordoned off part of Gibbon Road to carry out their investigations.

Detective Chief Inspector Reg Hooke, who is leading the inquiry, appealed to local residents for help in finding the large blade which may have caused Mr Wadman's fatal injuries. Officers have been searching for the weapon in and around Gibbon Road for the last six days, but to no avail.

He said: 'I'm asking people in Gibbon Road and the surrounding streets to check their rubbish bins and their gardens for this knife. If you find the weapon please do not touch it and call police immediately.'

Anyone with information about this incident, or who thinks they have found the large knife in question, should contact police on 0845 60 70 999 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
