Police appeal for help as thievestarget town shops

SHOPS and their customers in Bexhill are being targeted by thieves

Police are particularly anxious to trace one man thought to be responsible for several recent incidents.

He was last spotted in the M & Co store in Devonshire Road, Bexhill, at around 1.10pm last Saturday (May 5), and is described as being a white male, in his early 20s, 6ft tall, of slim build and with dark hair.

He is thought to have stolen 14 pairs of men’s beach shorts, together worth more than £300, from the store and was reported to staff by a female customer who saw the items being taken.

Though known to be called Elisa, she did not leave any contact details.

PC Rob Shaw, of Bexhill Police, said: “The man involved in this theft is thought to have been involved in others in the town recently.

“We would very much like to hear from Elisa or anyone else with information about this or any other shoplifting.

“They shoud call Sussex Police on 101, quoting serial 792 of 5/5, or can contact the free, anonymous Crimestoppers linkline on 0800 555 111.”

r In a separate incident at around 1.15pm on Saturday, May 5, a four-inch leather purse containing £90 and a Nationwide debit card were stolen from a shop in St Leonard’s Road, Bexhill.
