Police appeal for witnesses following an alleged rape in Bognor Regis

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following the report of an alleged rape of a 35-year-old woman near the pier in Bognor Regis.

The alleged attack happened sometime during the evening of September 15 and the early hours of the following day.

The victim reported the incident to police on September 17, and detectives are in the early stages of trying to establish the exact circumstances that led up to the assault.

Detective Sergeant Russ Burgess from West Sussex CID said: “The victim was with two men who she met socially earlier in the evening and we are keen to hear from these men or anyone else who may have seen the woman and men together.

“The victim is white, 5’2”, of stocky build with medium length dark hair with a red tint and was wearing black leggings and a black top. If you saw her at any stage on Saturday or Sunday please get in touch.

“She has described the men who were with her as possibly Eastern European, both taller than her, one with dark hair and one with blond bits in his hair.

“Sussex Police will thoroughly investigate all allegations of rape or sexual assault. If you have been a victim please notify officers as soon as possible so we can investigate and provide the right support and care.
