Police appeal for witnesses over attempted burglary

Police have released an efit of a man they would like to speak to after a house in Crawley was targeted by a burglar.

The owner returned home at 6.30pm on Friday (January 10) to find a window at his house in Martyrs Avenue had been broken and the security light disabled but that no one had managed to get inside the property.

Police would like to speak to a man who was seen carrying a dog lead in Langley Green playing field and looking into the gardens of homes in Martyrs Avenue.

He was described as white, in his 30s and around 5ft 8ins tall with short dark hair. He was wearing dark black rimmed spectacles and a black zip up bomber jacket.

Detective Sergeant Jeremy Basting said: “This man may have nothing to do with the incident but could have seen people acting suspiciously around the homes.

“We need to speak to him to find out what he may have seen. If you know who he is, please contact us so we can get in touch with him.”
