Police appeal for witnesses to serious M23 crash

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to a serious collision that closed the M23 yesterday (Thursday February 4).

A 68-year-old woman from Suffolk was airlifted to St George’s Hospital in London after her blue Mazda collided with the central reservation of the motorway at 11.35am.

The incident happened near junction 10A near Maidenbower.

The motorway was closed southbound for recovery work but reopened at around 2.30pm.

Sergeant Bryan McCartney said: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened.

“Witnesses can email [email protected] or call 101 quoting Operation Illinois.”
