Police base to close

A Haywards Heath roads policing base will close.

A police spokesman said its last operational day was yesterday (January 10).

Sussex Roads Police tweeted: “Last operational day for the base, team being redeployed to other hubs/new shift pattern. Sad, but life goes on!”

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “The Haywards Heath roads policing base will close in January 2016 as part of a restructure of the unit.

“The other two bases at Polegate and Arundel will remain open.

“Roads policing officers will be based in areas where they are most needed, to be able to respond to incidents, helping to reduce the numbers of people killed and seriously injured and where officer presence will impact on driver behaviour across Surrey and Sussex.”
