Police bust Rye cannabis factory

Rye Police have arrested two men and seized 242 cannabis plants following a raid at an address in Winchelsea Road, Rye, during the evening of Tuesday, 26 November.

One of the men, 24-year-old Gavin Horsley of Winchelsea Road, Rye, was later charged with production of cannabis and abstracting electricity. He will be appearing at Hastings Magistrates Court on 20 December and has conditions not to enter the town of Rye. The other man, also 24, was released on bail until 15 January 2014 pending further enquiries.

The operation was led by Rye Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Warren Downs, who said: “We are very pleased with the result of this operation.

“Drug crime heavily impacts communities and will not be tolerated. We will always listen to the public’s concerns regarding these issues and would encourage any person to come forward and speak with us to help keep our communities safe.”
