POLICE CHECKS TONIGHT

Vehicles and pedestrians will be stopped in an effort to gain information and witnessess in connection with an attempted robbery on a 39-year-woman in the area between 8 and 9pm the previous Tuesday evening (November 21).

The woman was walking home and was by the Annex shop in Roderick Avenue when she believed she was being followed. She got to Arundel Road and a man approached from behind and demanded her handbag.

In a struggle he ran off emptyhanded.

The woman is not injured but was shaken by the incident.

The man is believed to be about 6ft and was dressed in dark clothing.
