Police continue to investigate cycling hit and run in Bognor Regis

Police have released a picture of the young child who suffered serious injuries after a hit and run by a cyclist on a Bognor pavement.

Police are continuing to investigate a collision outside the pet shop in Aldwick Road which happened late on Tuesday afternoon (June 17) when a young teenage boy riding a black BMX bicycle on the pavement collided with four-year-old Abigail Murray.

The boy, who is described as between 14 and 16-years-old and was wearing jeans and a dark coloured top, did stop at the scene and was very apologetic.

He spoke to other witnesses who had congregated outside the shop, before cycling away from the area.

DI Julie Overton said: "This incident was witnessed by the little girl's mother and sister, who are understandably traumatised by the event.

"We really do need to speak to this young man, who may be completely unaware of the extent of the girl's injuries, but who can really help both police and the family understand how this unfortunate matter occurred.

"We would like any witnesses to this incident to call us on 0845 60 70 999, quoting Operation Start."
