Police deal with travellers at Eastbourne car park

Police are dealing with a group of travellers which arrived in Eastbourne overnight.

Officers were called after several vehicles parked in the car park at the Water Treatment Works in Prince William Parade this morning (Tuesday).

Eastbourne council is also sending officials to the site.

A police spokesperson said, “We are aware and have liaised with partners. Officers have attended to patrol and monitor the situation, however no issues have been reported to police at this time.”

A spokesperson at Eastbourne Borough Council said, “Members of our Neighbourhood First team are on site with Sussex Police and the East Sussex County Council Traveller Liaison Team to conduct welfare checks and other assessments. We will provide further updates in due course.”
