The 10th Haywards Heath Scouts received the donation in time for the Sussex 100 District camp and slept warm and dry under the stars.

Charlene Worsfold, Cub Scout Leader, said: “I want to express my appreciation for Sussex Police’s generosity in support of the 10th Haywards Heath Scout Group.

“Our recent Sussex 100 District camp at Ardingly was a huge success which all started with our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts fundraising their hearts out, and finished with an amazing donation from the force.

“Our brand new patrol tents kept the Cubs warm and dry enough for a good night’s sleep, ready for their action-packed weekend, while our Scouts are looking forward to using the tents for their next week-long camp.”

The donation comes from the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF), made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.

PC Vicki Lank said: “I was lucky enough to join the 10th Haywards Heath group on their Sussex 100 district camp, and to see first-hand how much they all enjoyed and learned from the weekend.

“Hopefully this donation means that Cubs and Scouts in Haywards Heath can continue to benefit from this fantastic experience for years to come.”
