Police hunt car smash motorist

POLICE are seeking a driver who fled from the scene of a car crash in Bexhill, covered in blood from his injuries.

A passenger in a black Vauxhall was arrested at the scene but later released on bail pending further enquiries.

The crash involved four vehicles, and occurred at the junction of Chandler Road, opposite Bexhill Down, and the A259 Little Common Road at about 9pm on Sunday.

A silver Volvo emerging onto Little Common Road was in collision with the Vauxhall.

Police believe the Vauxhall may have been travelling at considerable speed.

Two other vehicles close by, one of which was parked and the other passing, were also damaged in the incident, which closed the A259 for several hours.

Inspector James Scott, of Bexhill Police, said: "One person was taken to hospital and two others sustained slight injuries. but no one was seriously hurt.

"We believe the male motorist who ran off was also injured in the incident and had blood running down his face.

"Someone may have seen him or may know who he is."

Inspector Scott added: "Anyone who witnessed the crash or who saw the motorist running away is asked to contact police without delay."

Bexhill firefighters attended to help clear debris and give first aid.
