POLICE HUNT DISTRACTION GANG

Police looking for three men involved in a distraction burglary in Robertsbridge on Thursday last week think that the trio may have been involved in a string of similar incidents from Cranbrook to Hastings.

The men, reported to have broad Irish accents, talked their way into the house of an 84-year-old lady by posing as water board officials and left with a number of items including an amount of cash.

One of the items was later recovered from an alleyway between Camperdown Street and TurkeyRoad in Bexhill and police now believe that the gang may be linked to a series of distraction burglaries on that day leaving a trail through Cranbrook, Hawkhurst, Robertsbridge and Hastings.
