Police hunt for vital witnesses after attempted rape

POLICE are searching for vital witnesses following the attempted rape of a 12-year-old boy in Littlehampton.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in two alleyways off Arcade Road, between 8pm and 9.20pm, on Wednesday, November 2, to come forward.

There were a number of passers by during that period, in particular CCTV shows a person with a small dog of some kind, around the alleyway near The Silk Road Restaurant. It is is not clear whether the person is a man or a woman.

Detective Constable Jon Stadius said; “I stress that we seek this person and anyone else who can help, purely as witnesses.

“They may recall seeing some suspicious activity by two people in those alleyways around those times and if so it would be very helpful if they could contact us, Please ring 101 and quote serial 1568 of 2/11. All information will be treated sensitively and in confidence. You can also call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 55 1111.”

Terry Robertson, 38, unemployed of no fixed address, has been charged with attempted rape of and penetrative sex with a boy under 13, an act outraging public decency, and theft of wine from a shop.

He appeared at Worthing Magistrates Court on Friday, November 4 and was remanded in custody to make an initial appearance at Chichester Crown Court on January 26.
