Police hunt motorist who knocked over pedestrian

Police are hunting a motorist who knocked down a pedestrian in Golden Cross and drove off.

The 25-year-old victim who is from Holland, was staying at a nearby campsite with a friend and was on his way back there when he was struck at 1.45am on Sunday (July 14).

Police saod he was walking north with his friend in Nash Street when they were passed by three vehicles travelling south, the last of which clipped him.

His right leg was broken in two places and his ankle joint was crushed, police said.

He was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital for treatment.

Police said the offender was driving a vehicle that is described as being a small three-door hatchback.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident or who saw the three vehicles being driven in the area around the time of the collision.
