Police hunt mystery intruder at Worthing pubs

POLICE are searching for an intruder who entered the private areas of three Worthing pubs.

All the incidents happened on Sunday, January 11, when the pubs were open for business.

First, the man went into the kitchen area upstairs in The Broadwater Pub in Broadwater Street West, between 1pm and 2pm. He was confronted by a staff member and told told to leave.

Then, at 3.50pm, the man entered The George Toby Carvery in Goring, when he was again stopped by a worker, this time as he walked up the stairs to the private quarters which include a staff room and private flat. He was again told to leave.

And at 4.30pm, the same man entered The Mulberry Pub in Goring. He got inside the flat above the pub and tried to break into a secure room, but was disturbed and fled through a first-floor window.

Detective constable Andrea Thompson said: "These three matters are clearly linked."

The suspect is described as a white man, with brown hair and a distinctive full brown beard.
