Sergeant Warren Downs, from the Rye Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Thankfully no-one was injured as there was no-one at the play park at the time, however there has been extensive damage caused to the play facilities, which will take a vast amount of money to replace.

“We are appealing for any witnesses to the arson, or anyone who may have been seen hanging around in the hours, or days leading up to the fire.”

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 or email [email protected] quoting serial 396 of the 20/06. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
