Police identify man found dead at Cuckmere Haven

Emergency services were called to the beauty spot at around 10am last Monday (October 20) after a body was found on the seashore there.

Following an investigation by Sussex and Suffolk police, the man has been provisionally identified as 34-year-old Matthew Bursey, from Exning.

He had been the subject of a missing person appeal after vanishing from his home on October 1.

Sussex Police put out a call to find him which was shared on this website.

In a statement, Suffolk Police said officers are treating Mr Bursey’s death as unexplained but do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances at this stage.

Mr Bursey’s next-of-kin have been informed, police said.
