Police increasingly concerned about missing 96-year-old woman

Nellie Herriott was last seen at 11am at a bus stop on Race Hill (Elm Grove) in Brighton on Monday morning.

Sussex Police are becoming very concerned about her welfare and want to hear from anyone who may have spotted her.

Nellie, who is described as white, of thin build, 4ft 9in tall, with short curly hair, regularly uses buses in Brighton and Hove, and is known to travel to other towns, including Eastbourne and Worthing.

She was wearing a blue coat and black hat.

A spokesman said: “Nellie is very mobile and regularly travels on the bus to different parts of the country. It may well be that she is outside of the East Sussex area, which is why we’re appealing to the public in surrounding areas.”

Inspector Jon Carter added: “Nellie is vulnerable due to her age and she also suffers from Alzheimer’s which can cause her to become confused. It’s now been three days since she was last seen and we’re very anxious to hear from anyone who thinks they may know where she is. Nellie has been a frequent visitor to the BHS Café in Churchill Square, Brighton. She may have frequented other cafes and may make several visits in a short period of time.

“If anyone thinks they have seen Nellie then I would urge them to call police as soon as possible on 101, quoting reference number 1448 of 25 April.”
