Police investigate suspected arson attacks at flats

Police are investigating two suspected arson attacks at a block of flats in Telescombe Cliffs.

A report was made at 12.23am today (Monday, December 4) with East Sussex Fire and Rescue in attendance at a flat on Telescombe Cliffs Way. There was minor damage to the stairs and wall.

On Friday (December 1) at 9.45pm emergency services attended a fire in a cupboard in the communal hallway at the same location.

No major damage was caused to the flats.

Detective Constable Karen Colbran said: “We are appealing to anyone who might have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area at either of these times over the weekend.

“We believe on both occasions the fires have been started deliberately.

“It is also believed that these incidents are not linked to the series of fires which occurred in Peacehaven earlier this year.”
