Police in Hastings are investigating a complaint that a 16-year-old girl with cerebral palsy was verbally abused in a shop.
She twice selected goods in a St Leonards shop but failed to realise she did not have enough money to pay for. She was then verbally abused.
The incident happened at the lower end of London Road, St Leonards, between 5.30pm and 6pm on Friday, April 17 when the victim tried to buy some sweets.
She was left shaken and upset by the vehemence and nature of the remarks directed at her, police said.
