Police linking rural burglaries

Police are linking two burglaries which happened in rural Rother last week.

Officers were called to a building in Poppinghole Lane, Robertsbridge, on Thursday September 30.

A burglar alarm had gone off at the property and when security firm Securitas went to investigate, the break in was discovered.

The company made arrangements for the house to be boarded up and the home owners were contacted.

A short time later, police were called to another break in at a property in Cripps Corner Road in Staplecross

The intruder forced a lock on the rear kitchen window to get into the building.

The burglar alarm sounded and police believe this frightened the suspect away.

Muddy footprints were found on the kitchen sink where the would-be thief tried to get in.

Police carried out house to house enquiries and the investigation is continuing.
