Police linking sexual assaults

Police are investigating three reports of sexual assaults in Brighton and Hove over a 24-hour period, where women were slapped and groped by a hooded man on a bicycle.

In the first incident, a man on a bike cycled past a woman in Portland Place, Brighton at 6.30pm on Tuesday January 3 and smacked her bottom.

Later that evening a woman out jogging in Somerhill Road, Hove, was approached by a man on a bike who grabbed her arm and bottom at about 9pm.

The following day, on Wednesday January 4, a man on a bike slowed down and cycled alongside a female cyclist and slapped her thigh in Madeira Drive, Brighton, at about 6.20pm.

The suspect is white, in his early 20s, 5’ 10”, of stocky build and wearing a dark coloured hooded top with the hood up and has a red and white bike.

PC James Cowen said: “We are linking these reports as the suspect was on a bike each time and they happened within 24 hours of each other.

“The victims weren’t physically hurt but were shaken up.

“If any one recognises the suspect or has any information please contact us.”
