The Trans Alliance is a voluntary organisation and forum for trans community groups, trans activists and organisations that work specifically with the trans community.

It aims for equality for transgender people living, working, studying or socialising in Brighton and Hove.

The money will go towards running the Trans Day of Remembrance event and supporting their work generally including providing vital trans awareness training to organisations in the city.

Chief Superintendent Nev Kemp said: “In policing we value courage and it is something those working in policing regularly have to show but we recognise that if you are Trans, you will have had to show courage - sometimes everyday - just to be yourself.

“It was good to be able to give something tangible to reinforce that Sussex Police support Trans people to be themselves, in safety and without discrimination.”

The donation comes from the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF), made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.
