Sussex Police said the victim, a 24-year-old woman, had been out with two friends who watched from the top of the road as she started her walk home at around 12.30am on Sunday, April 24.

She told officers she was approached by a man in Western Road who pushed himself up against her before grabbing her waist and asking about where she lived.

Police added the suspect is described as mixed race, about 26, 5ft 8ins tall, and of slim build.

He spoke with a deep, London accent and wore a dark blue or black coloured hooded top which was baggy on him.

The victim was not hurt and when her friends ran over to check she was okay, the suspect walked off towards Warrior Square train station.

Detective Constable Ian Dearling said: “We believe there were a number of people in Western Road at the time and would urge anyone who was there to contact us.”
