Police search for missing Aldwick man

Police have searched through the night for a missing 78-year-old Aldwick man.

Sussex Police are looking for James Packham missing from Wilman Gardens.

Mr Packham was last seen by neighbours leaving Wilman Gardens on foot at about 7.45pm last night, Sunday, September 11.

There is particular concern for Mr Packham as he suffers from dementia and is in poor health.

Mr Packham is about 5ft 6ins tall, small build, with mousey coloured thinning hair.

He was last seen wearing brown shoes, brown trousers, a brown zip up cardigan and is believed to be carrying two carrier bags containing shoes.

The search for Mr Packham has involved helicopters, dogs and officers on foot and in vehicles through the night.

The Sussex Search and Rescue volunteer team also assisted with the search.

A Sussex Police spokesman said on Monday (September 12): “We are concerned for Mr Packham because of his state of confusion and poor health. It is difficult to search at night and we were grateful for the assistance of the helicopter and the volunteer search team.

People living locally are asked to check their gardens and outbuildings and anyone who has information that may assist in locating Mr Packham is asked to call us on 0845 6070999 quoting serial 1440 of 11 September.”
