Police search for sex attack pair

Detectives began an investigation yesterday to track down two hooded sex attackers after a girl reported that she had been raped.

The investigation into the daylight attack centres on Chapel Path, the public footpath leading from Barrack Road to London Road.

Rother CID commander Detective Inspector Owen Poplett said in a statement this morning: "About noon on Friday, June 8, a 17 year-old female was walking along Chapel Path, Bexhill, when she saw two youths standing in the twitten near the Edinburgh Road access.

"The two youths were drinking from a can. As she approached they appeared to be looking at her and attempted to attract her attention.

"As she passed the two youths were talking and attempted to follow her. One of the youths grabbed the upper part of the female, pinning her arms to her sides.

"He then dragged her into a side alley which runs between the rear of houses in Bayencourt South and Bowrey Place.

"One of the youths prevented her from screaming whilst the second youth proceeded to carry out a serious sexual assault.
