The driver was heading south through Nutley at around 4am on Tuesday, January 12, when he says he was pursued by a red Mercedes van.

He claims a passenger in the van began to wave an unknown object from the window while its driver attempted to overtake him.

He swerved at the van causing it to drop back before triggering a speed camera.

The lorry driver stopped at a service station at Golden Cross, near Hailsham, a few minutes later and reported the incident to police.

PC Kevin Tyler said, “No items were taken as the driver did not stop, but he was left shocked by the ordeal.

“We would like to speak to anybody who witnessed the two vehicles or has CCTV that covers the A22 between Wych Cross and Uckfield.”
