Police seize drugs believed to be crystal meth in Brighton and Hove

Police have made several seizures of the drug believed to be crystal meth in Brighton and Hove during the last 10 days.

Around £1,000 worth of the drug was seized during a warrant at Cobblers Thumb in New England Road, Brighton, last Thursday night (August 3).

This was along with hundreds of items believed to be used in the process of both making and using crystal meth.

At the same time chemicals and substances were recovered from an address in Pullman Hall, New England Street, Brighton, during another warrant, police said.

These are now being forensically examined to establish their exact content.

On Monday (August 7), officers searched an address at Denis Hobden Close in Brighton and recovered quantities of what is believed to be crystal meth, GBL and cannabis.

A 50-year-old Brighton man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A, B and C drugs and has been released under investigation.

A total of five men have now been arrested in connection with the warrants specifically aimed at targeting dealers of crystal meth.

Detective Inspector Julie Wakeford said: “Crystal meth seems to have recently become more widely available in the city and we would urge any anyone who has information about the supply of this particularly harmful drug to contact us.”
