Police target people not wearing seatbelts

MOTORISTS AND PASSENGERS who fail to wear their seatbelts while driving were targeted in a campaign this past week by Sussex Police.

Officers pulled over motorists during ‘covert and overt’ checks to make sure they were obeying the law and wearing seatbelts.

The campaign led by the Sussex Police Road Policing Unit finishes this Sunday, March 18.

Chief Inspector Natalie Moloney said: “If you aren’t wearing a seatbelt, you can expect to be fined up to £500.

This campaign is about educating people about the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt.”

In the same campaign last year 511 people were found not to be wearing their seatbelts.
