Police warn overscam letter whichpromises money

The eagle eyed Bexhill resident contacted police after he received the letter this week, but said he knew it was a scam straight away.

The letter, addressed directly to him, was supposedly from the Euromillions International Postcode Lottery, and told him that there was a mix up of names and numbers and that he had won just under £1m- tax free!

But to claim his prize, he was asked to contact a Foreign Service Manager, to process the winnings.

The letter looked very official and was addressed from the International Lottery Promotions based in Belgium,

Sergeant Mark Evans said: “This network of scams continues to plague people, particularly the elderly.

“We understand it is very tempting to respond to these lottery letters, who wouldn’t want to win a wonderful prize?, however, If you receive one of these letters please contact Action Fraud.”
