Police warning after spate of garage break-ins across Arun

Police are warning residents to be vigilant about keeping their garages and outbuildings secure after a series of break-ins across the Arun district since the new year.

Four break-ins took place in the district between 7am , January 4, to 7pm the following day.

One of those included a garage in Gospond Road, Barnham.

Officers say the occupant heard a noise and disturbed a man in the garage.

The suspect had forced the lock on a garage door and moved large drills, batteries and cables but nothing had been stolen.

The other three offences took place across Bognor Regis, with a number of power tools being stolen at varying locations in the town.

PCSO Michelle Davies said: “Please ensure your garage and outbuildings are always secure.

“Local hardware stores can give you advice on the best locks and alarms to use and battery operated alarms can be inexpensive.

She added: “Please keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour, people or vehicles in your area and report it to police on 101. If a crime is being committed please immediately call 999.”
