An adult gaming centre could open in an empty shop unit in the centre of Crawley

A change of use application for 15 Queensway, formerly a bank, has been submitted to Crawley Borough Council.

Merkur Cashino is one of several brands owned by Praesepe Holdings Limited and currently trade 162 adult gaming centres along with other brands of bingo halls and amusement centres.

According to the application: “The introduction of the proposed AGC will result in a number of benefits including bringing the vacant unit back into use and the high levels of footfall, linked trips and the creation of six jobs.

“The new use will clearly complement the surrounding shops and other commercial premises, and the proposal will assist in diversifying the centre’s offer.”

It also states there are no fixed-odds betting terminals, its machines offer low stakes between 10p and £2, 48 per cent of customers are female, customers visit on their own or in couples with large groups rare, while the machines generate low levels of noise.
