The funding for My Sisters’ House will go towards its ‘Reducing Poverty with Advocacy’ project, which will give disadvantaged women specialised, individual support to access the funds they need to improve the lives of themselves and their families.

The project will focus on helping those with mental health and other issues which make it hard for them to access other advice services.

The money is from a grant giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Since 2005, more than £600 million has been distributed to more than 8,500 grassroots projects operating across Britain through People’s Postcode Lottery’s four community programmes trusts.

Nick Gibb, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton MP, said: “I’m delighted to hear that My Sisters’ House has been successful in securing funds from the People’s Postcode Trust.

“My Sisters’ House provides valuable support for women who are facing challenging issues, from employment advice to support for women who are living with or are in recovery from domestic abuse.
