Greg Barker MP, Conservative

GREG Barker was born and raised in Sussex. He graduated in History, Economic History and Politics from London University in 1987.

He is a former member of the Territorial Army, enjoys gardening and spending time with his three children.

Greg was elected Conservative Member of Parliament for Bexhill and Battle in June 2001. Greg was a founder of BALI, he supports many local groups and charities including being Patron of the High Weald AONB and Vice patron of both East Sussex Association for the Blind and the St Michael's Hospice Capital Appeal.

David Cameron appointed Greg as Shadow Environment Minister in December 2005. Since 2008, Greg has been Shadow Minister for Climate Change.

He said: "Labour has brought us to the brink of economic ruin. Now people will have to make a choice - between five more years of Gordon Brown, who got us into this mess, or change and a fresh start with David Cameron. Yet despite our debts and problems, Britain has so much potential.

"Government alone cannot solve all of our problems. That means more people power not state power, a big society not even bigger government. I want more responsibility and power for local communities not Whitehall or Brussels!
