Candidate Profile: Stuart Wheeler, Trust Party

Stuart Wheeler, Trust Party

I'm relatively new to politics.

I only got involved for the first time a decade ago, when I thought that William Hague deserved a helping hand, and so I gave the Conservative Party a lot of money when the party was very unpopular.

It's been fascinating for someone from a business background to have seen how politics works. And how, sadly, it sometimes doesn't.

When I donated to the Tory Party, the first thing I did was to say that I didn't want anything for it.

Writing a book about the expenses scandal, I was astonished by the attitude of MPs to public money given them by the taxpayer. So I set up Trust to campaign on the expenses issue.

Bexhill and Battle is one of the nicest constituencies in Britain, but it still has problems. Local small businesses, like post offices and pubs, are hard-pressed and need more help. Far more needs to be done to ensure decent transport links, especially for rail and bus connections.

An MP who will always put Bexhill and Battle first is the best way you can secure this.
