Cash support for flying the Littlehampton sporting flag

SPORTSMEN and women are being offered a helping by Littlehampton Town Council.

Up to £1,000 in grants is up for through the Financial Awards for Sporting Excellence scheme run in partnership with the Littlehampton Sports Forum.

The awards are open to sporting people from Littlehampton who are looking for extra financial support towards training, competition fees, transport, accommodation and equipment.

The aim is to assist those already at county level develop their potential to progress further.

There are no age restrictions.

Awards up to £1,000 are available to each recipient, but more people will be able to benefit if amounts are kept to the minimum required.

Councillor Joyce Bowyer, chairman of the town council’s community resources committee, said: “Assisting local sporting talent is a significant aspect of the council’s work in the community and these grants often mean that sportspeople can continue to excel in their chosen sport and fly the flag for Littlehampton.”
