Conservatives hold Buxted and Maresfield

Wealden District Council’s strategic planning and housing portfolio holder, Cllr Roy Galley (Con) has been elected ESCC member for Buxted and Maresfield.

He replaced Cllr Tony Reid.

Cllr Galley polled 51.4 per cent, 1478 votes, staying just ahead of UKIP’s Tony Robards who came second with 29.4 per cent, 845 votes. Martha Whittle for the LibDems polled 309 votes (10.7 per cent) followed by Bruce Meredeen for Labour with 243 votes (8.5 per cent.)

At the last County Council election the Conservatives polled 68.1per cent of votes.
