Conversion of Seaford care home into homes approved

On Wednesday (June 9), Lewes District Council’s planning committee approved proposals to convert Hillersdon Court – an older persons’ care home in College Road – into two semi-detached houses and a block of three flats.

Following a short discussion, the scheme, which had seen no objections raised by local residents, was approved unanimously. 

The application had been put forward by Lewes councillors Jim and Sylvia Lord, who are the care home’s owners. While both present as members of the planning committee that evening, both Mr and Mrs Lord left the room during discussion of the application. 

Currently the care home is made up of two buildings, which were linked together to form a single structure. As part of the work two buildings would be separated once again.

The semi-detached houses would each be for three-bedrooms, while the flats would have one, two and three bedrooms respectively.
