Could John Lewis be coming to Horsham?

A new Waitrose could still be joined in Horsham by a John Lewis store.

A planning application has been submitted for a site off the Bishopric on the site of Horsham Bowling Club and Lifestyle Ford.

Developers Westrock are bidding to redevelop Horsham town centre’s ‘West End’, plans which include a purpose-built Waitrose, and a similarly sized non-food store, both fronting on to Albion Way.

It has been mooted as an ideal home for a John Lewis, and this week Horsham District Council’s said the authority was fighting hard to attract the premier retailer to the town.

Under plans Horsham Bowling Club will be re-homed at Holbrook Tythe Barn, while Lifestyle Ford will move to Broadbridge Heath. Waitrose and its 120 staff would relocate from Piries Place.
