A report to the committee said: “The plan includes enhancing the woodland and developing a woodland management plan in collaboration with the Rusper Ridge Biodiversity Opportunity Area.”

But Rusper Parish Council objected to the plans, saying the site was ‘an important environmental location’.

The parish council added: “The made Rusper Neighbourhood Plan acknowledges the Rusper Ridge as an important biodiversity opportunity area. This ridge is also identified in the plan as one of the wildlife corridors that provide important connection, migration, feeding and hunting areas for the rich wildlife of the area. The introduction of what would be 24-hour human activity right in the middle of this important environment would have a significant impact.”

Officers have recommended the plans for approval. To view the application, log on to public-access.horsham.gov.uk and search for DC/23/1806.
